From March 9 to 12, Espacio Geranios was pleased to host the first training session of the Fashion Forward project in Madrid. A total of 33 participants from Espacio Geranios and partner organizations PFTA, FAIR, Equação, and Equo Garantito gathered to take part in an intensive training program designed to prepare youth trainers to become advocates for sustainable fashion.
Over the course of four dynamic days, participants explored the fundamentals of sustainable and responsible fashion. The training addressed the social and environmental impacts of the fashion industry through interactive sessions, discussions, and collaborative activities, with the aim of translating these ideas into meaningful advocacy actions within their communities.
In addition, they visited inspiring local initiatives that are already promoting more ethical and sustainable models, such as Taller Masha in the Tetuán neighborhood; The Circular Project; and La Recuperadora.
One of the highlights of the training was the development of youth-led awareness campaigns. Working in teams, participants designed initiatives aimed at promoting sustainable fashion and raising awareness about responsible consumption. These plans reflected innovative thinking and fresh perspectives, demonstrating how young people can play a key role in shaping a more sustainable future for the fashion industry.
The training concluded with a moment of reflection, where participants shared their thoughts and insights from the experience. Their words captured the collaborative spirit and motivation that defined the week:
“Change the perspective in a conversation; I’m not here to convince you, I’m here to share my idea with you.”
“There are beautiful realities around you that are sustainable—you just have to search for them.”
“We don’t have to think the same way about everything to be part of the change, but we must believe in the same idea.”
