From June 10 to 13, 2025, Caravaca de la Cruz (Murcia, Spain) hosted an inspiring international gathering as part of the MAMA RISE project — an initiative funded by the Erasmus Plus programme through the Spanish National Agency SEPIE. The project brings together mothers with migratory backgrounds from Latvia, Poland, and Spain to foster their personal, community, and creative development.
Over four days, a group of committed women took part in an intensive training organized by Espacio Geranios, aimed at sharing knowledge, exchanging best practices, strengthening skills, and developing impactful initiatives for their communities.
We also had the opportunity to take part in an intercultural breakfast hosted by Moroccan mothers from the city; a women’s circle facilitated by Naturacea in the natural setting of Las Fuentes del Marqués; a festival for mothers focused on self-care and sustainability led by Zurcayram at Finca Las Oicas; and a photo exhibition portraying the lives of mothers, followed by an intercultural celebration with local food and traditional dances.

A Space for Connection, Learning and Creation
This international training was a unique opportunity to build strong bonds among mothers from three European countries —many of whom have diverse migration backgrounds— and to collectively create a supportive network. Mothers and facilitators joined not only from Latvia, Poland, and Spain, but also from Ukraine, Russia, Colombia, Ecuador, Morocco, Hungary, and the United States.
Throughout the sessions, participants shared personal stories, ongoing projects, and dreams they hope to bring to life within their communities.
Several local initiatives led by MAMA RISE mothers were also presented, such as the Family Picnic and Family Sports Day organized by the Latvian and Polish teams on June 1 — events that blended play, intergenerational gathering, and community celebration.
Upcoming activities were also announced, including candle-making and plaster painting workshops for children, a forest excursion and end-of-school barbecue, and summer camps for mothers and children.
A Growing Community
At Espacio Geranios, we feel deeply grateful and inspired to have hosted this space for collective growth and connection. The energy, creativity, and commitment brought by participants from Latvia, Poland, and across Spain remind us of the transformative power of women coming together.
MAMA RISE continues to grow as a vibrant network of mothers who empower each other, create, and lead meaningful change in their communities.
