MAMA RISE: Empowering Mothers through Adult Education for Thriving Communities

As part of the Erasmus + Key Action 2 program, we have started the implementation of the MAMA RISE project, in partnership with the organizations Stowarzyszenie “Aktywność Współpraca Rozwój” from Poland and Radosas Idejas from Latvia. Over 15 months, MAMA RISE seeks to empower mothers to be leaders in personal development, sustainability and community action in Spain, Latvia and Poland. Thus, a new educational program adapted to adult education and a set of digital tools will be developed to improve the capacity of mothers to be agents of change in their communities. There will also be an interactive, multilingual toolkit with resources, activities and best practices with a documented approach to co-design to serve as a model for future projects. In addition to the three countries where it is being implemented, the EU adult education community is also involved through the publication of the resources generated in the forums on Epale and Up2Europe to inspire other educators to incorporate elements into their own programs, thus multiplying the reach of the project. MAMA RISE primarily targets a diverse group of women of different ages, backgrounds and life experiences, all with the common identity of motherhood. Under the premise of supporting those who have barriers to access personal development opportunities and wish to have a positive impact on their communities. Therefore, the project focuses on migrant, refugee or unemployed mothers, offering them opportunities for personal growth and development, skills related to active citizenship and sustainability. The project will provide guidance and tools for mothers to design and implement small-scale projects focused on sustainability within their communities, providing them with a framework to identify community needs, plan impactful projects, manage resources and collaborate with stakeholders thereby promoting positive change and increased civic engagement.
